a few months ago, i had the opportunity to be in on this proposal and had to share. i was doing a family session for his family and in the middle of it, he dropped to his knee and surprised her with the ring. seriously the sweetest thing i've seen in some time. here's wishing them all the best.

so much for reviving the blog. wonderful surprise news came for us this spring...a new little grant will be joining our family just before christmas. we couldn't be more excited. but this has also meant putting my photography on hold, at least for the time being. i wish i was one of those women who could carry on life as usual while i'm pregnant, but it turns out i'm not. so my family is coming first and there's not room for much else at this point. one day i will get back to photography as a business, but for now, it's all about my family. i can't wait to get this sweet little baby in my hands and in front of my camera.

may you enjoy what is left of summer...i know we are.

wow, it's been awhile! i figure it's time to revive the blog. what with spring on it's way and all it seems fitting. and i'm so itching for some longer, warmer days to get out and take some photos. since i haven't posted for months, i do have some catching up to do. i'll start with my dear friend carrie and her family. sessions with them are always a good time.

i have a friend. she's gorgeous. and she's funny. and i can tell her anything. and she listens. and she understands. and i laugh constantly when i am with her...at least the two of us think we're pretty hysterical. although our husbands are usually rolling their eyes at us. i'm lucky to have found her and even more lucky that she trusted me to take some photos of her family, since she's kind of a perfectionist when it comes to family pictures. love you kerri!

had to share just this one tonight. this is the sweet baby of one of my best friends. whenever i need to smell that newborn baby smell or snuggle a tiny little body, it's nice to know i can head over to her house and get that fix.

this session was a couple of years in the making. our first attempt was rained out. and then my schedule and their schedule just couldn't seem to fit together, and finally the date was set. we were ready to take some photos. and then the rains came again. so we both sat in our cars, hoping the storm would pass quickly. i was saying my prayers, and i'm sure this sweet mom was saying lots of prayers after going through the trouble of getting her kids ready for a photo session...so not an easy task. after about 15 minutes, the clouds parted and the skies cleared. prayers do get answered.

these people helped to keep us sane and have some sort of a social life when jd was studying his brains out in dental school and i seemed to do nothing but work all the time. they are part of our kentucky family and it's always so fun to see them and how their family has grown. and just look at how adorable these girls are! they make my job super easy.

i saw this great article and thought i would share.

as someone who has come onto the photography scene fairly recently (in the last few years), i realize how many people want something for nothing. and while photography is something that i am passionate about, it does take time away from the most important things to me, my kids and my husband. and not just the time when i'm actually taking the photos, but as the article explains, downloading and processing and prints and cds and the list goes on...it all takes time. lots of time.

i do this because i love it. i'm still honing my craft, evolving and changing and improving. i hope and pray that never stops. i realize the value there is in the emotion filled images of your loved ones...they are definitely worth every penny.

i know i keep saying i don't do weddings, yet i keep posting weddings. but honestly, i did not shoot this wedding. i just happened to do this session on their wedding day while they were all dressed up. and amy is one of the sweetest people i know and i would do anything for her. and she's gorgeous and james is awesome and they make it so easy.

if there's one thing i have learned as a photographer, it's that i am not a wedding photographer. there are plenty of others out there much better suited for it than i. however, i have done a few weddings, this being one of them. i won't say that i will never do another one, but there's going to need to be a lot of bribery involved.

with that said, i've known this bride since she was just a little tyke. and it was a pleasure to document her special day for her.

last week i did class/individual photos for the preschool my children attend. and it was so fun to spend time with all the funloving, hilarious kids. even my own children cooperated with me. if only that was the case always.

my friend Julie, who is an amazing photographer, set up a great opportunity today to go and take some photos at this new candy shop called Lollipop Stop. and she brought along her sweet kids to be our models. the bright colors were so welcome in the middle of this drab february. it was fun to go and do photos just for me, with no one expecting anything.

this blog has been neglected if you haven't noticed. i have taken on doing project 365 on my personal blog, and that has meant less posts on this blog. i'll try harder to keep up with both. i am loving project 365 though...i'm definitely doing better at documenting the happenings of my own family, which is my ultimate goal with photography anyway.

for now here's some cute girls and their cute parents. it was freezing and this family was definitely good sports about it all.

I think I've said this before, but I have for sure decided now that senior sessions are my favorite. what senior isn't hilarious and fun to be around. and then you usually have mom along for the ride to embarrass her child like no other. I love it.

i've known this crazy lady for years now. we were college roommates which means we've shared some fun/exciting/dramatic experiences together. i love that we are able to live so close to each other now, 12 years later, and still be very much a part of each others lives. i love her kids and am honored that she trusts me enough to take her family's photos, especially since she is such the perfectionist. talk about pressure. (carrie, you know i'm kidding.)

can i tell you how much I love doing sessions with this family. you may remember them from last year and i consider them my first real true clients ever. they are hilarious, go with the flow kinda people and want the candid emotion filled unposed photographs that i love to take. grandma, grandpa and uncle even got in on the fun this year. if you know my husband at all, then it's quite obvious that this is his brother and his family. these are the people who will be taking my kids if something ever happens to JD and me. and I might send my kids to live with them anyway because they've definitely done something right in the parenting department.

I'll be honest...weddings are not something that I truly enjoy doing, normally. It's much too stressful for me to have the pressure of only having this one opportunity to capture all of the perfect moments.

In fact, I will not be booking anymore weddings.

But there was something about this couple and their families that made it so easy to shoot their special day. They are genuine, go with the flow people, and honestly, those are my favorites.

I have the best job ever...although I don't think of it as a job. I get to hang out with fabulous people and take photos. I could tell that these boys keep mom on her toes, but in my own experience, that comes with the territory of boys. It took lots of m&m's and dum dums to get through this session but it was worth it. It doesn't hurt that this family is gorgeous either.

Here's the low down...

I am a natural light photographer that shoots on location.

My session fee is $100, which includes my time and talent. I will spend 1 to 1.5 hours with you and your family capturing priceless moments and creating memories. I will do the posed photos that everyone loves for the Christmas card but I also love the candid, heartfelt images that capture your family's emotions and personalities. Please take a careful look at this blog to make sure my style fits what you are looking for in a photographer. Feel free to email me if you'd like to see more images since this blog is in it's humble and meager beginnings.

After your session I will email you a gallery of 15-20 images for you to preview. If at this point, you would like more touchups/editing done to any of the photos, the cost will be $10 per image. I will do light touchups only, no head swaps or nose jobs and such.

You can purchase a cd of your full resolution images for $100. and the following is my pricing for prints:
